Khmer language

Of course I plan to learn the Khmer language once I am in Cambodia.
However, the following article doesn’t bode well:
On Learning the Awful Khmer Language by Antonio Graceffo.
(Even if you are not interested in Khmer language per se, it is a very witty and humorous article, well worth the read.)
Learning Khmer is surely going to be a hard nut to crack. (Well, at least there are no tones…)
Probably I’ll focus on listening and speaking at first, reading and writing can come later.
