100 Houses

Last weekend, I finally made it down to Borey 100 Knang, or the ‘100 Houses’.

The ‘100 Houses’ were designed by Cambodia’s most famous architect Vann Molyvann and commissioned as low-income housing in the 1965 by the National Bank of Cambodia for its staff. Initially the houses were identical modern reinterpretations of the traditional Khmer house, but few of them are in the original condition now. Most have been added on to, altered beyond recognition, or simply demolished.

More info and better photos here and here.
